July 2019

I’m still here.

I never switched to the free plan as I said was going to because it was too much trouble so I paid up for one more year and left the site to fend for itself in 2019. I made a very stressful long-distance move about 5 months ago and it hasn’t gone as well as I had hoped so far and I didn’t want to add to pressure of that by deleting years of work on the site and since the site does still get visitors (and not just email spammers) I decided to just leave it here for the year. This is only the third time I’ve checked the stats page since February and I have discovered some changes have been made to the program I use. I’m not sure the email link still works at this point.

About me: I had bought what was needed to take watercolor classes before my father got sick and then took all of it to Goodwill when we were trying to downsize all of our stuff before we moved and I decided to just focus on my higher end crochet supplies and then my crojo got lost in the move. Crocheters would know what means. So with the crojo missing I decided to try watercolor painting again and had to go out and re-purchase all the supplies I had left behind and had to buy most of it online because this area is lacking in art supplies and stores that sell them. Hopefully this will perk me right up.

About Kevin Spacey: The criminal charges and civil case against Kevin in Massachusetts have both been dropped. What this means for Kevin in the future, I don’t know. Authorities in the UK have apparently been interviewing him according to the news.

After Christmas

The site will be reverting back to a “free” design rather than the paid premium design it is now. I’m not sure what the site will look like or what will still be working afterwards. I still haven’t been able to make up my mind which way to go as far as wrapping it up in the new year or waiting a bit longer to decide but don’t want to pay for it to just sit here not being seen very much.

**There should not be any noticeable changes until January 26.

A request

Kevin Spacey is not affiliated with this web site.

I highly doubt he spends his free time reading anything on this web site. It is purely fan owned and operated. By me. So when you call him names in the comments section, he is not reading that. I am. And it is bad enough knowing that I am probably going to be ending this site soon and all my years of work are going to go poof and like that, be gone, because of someone else’s actions. But I don’t want to read the name calling. So any comment that includes that will be deleted. If you really feel the need to express yourself in that way, please feel free to say it to me in an email. You don’t have to post it for all the world to see. Or more specifically for the 4 people per day who still wander by. We all know what has been in the news for the past 10 months. Frankly, if you have a problem with the existence of my site, perhaps you shouldn’t be looking at it.

And if you think I shouldn’t be “promoting him” with my rare news posts, perhaps you’d prefer to see what I am going to be crocheting once the kit arrives in the mail. It’s the Scheepjes CAL (that stands for crochet along) 2017. Yes, yes, I know it’s almost 2019 but I’m a yarn rebel and I got a discount on the kit.

The 2017 Scheepjes CAL was a 14 week CAL called Hygge which is pronounced hooga and I am going to be doing the special limited edition Hygge called Danish Mermaid. It is technically a rectangular shawl but I plan to turn it into a wall hanging.

BBC Box Office

Box office numbers

Billionaire Boys Club opened in what can only be called an extremely limited release to even worse box office numbers. Last I read it was a $500 weekend total. I would assume they released it to the number of theaters necessary for awards season consideration for the technical side of the film. I don’t know if this movie would have generated much interest even if it had it been released last year before everything happened but there you go. Sad numbers for the sad end to a mostly brilliant career.

Spacey Birthdays 2018

Birthdays 2018

As always I wish Kevin Spacey a happy birthday and best wishes for the coming year, wherever he is. I do miss the days past when I would have sent him a lovely card from the fans on the site and a funny old age card from his number one fan KevieBear who coincidentally shares this birthday with him. The following is the letter that KBear wrote to him in 2011 that I must have forgotten to mail for some reason:

July 2011
Hi Kev!

Sorry it’s been so long since I have written to you but my assistant keeps telling me that she isn’t available for dictation. I have been forced to handle my own mail, if you can believe that. What is the world coming to?

How have you been? I was a little worried when I saw that you have been working so hard on your new play that you have developed a limp and that in the true spirit of the theatre, which as you know I share with you, that you go on stage every night limping even during the performance!

I hope you see a doctor soon or you might develop a hump.

Do you need an understudy??

I’m sure my assistant would be glad to mail me to London to help out.

For the past few years I have been working on my new book about you between naps. It has taken a lot out of me. My plan was to write a totally accurate biography of sorts from your humble beginnings to your showbiz greatness, but somehow it keeps turning into a book about me.

I am almost halfway through the third paragraph in chapter one! I struggled mightily with the first paragraph so finally decided after months of torment to skip the second and go on to the third. My next goal is to decide how many paragraphs should be in a chapter so I can then decide how many chapters should go into a complete book. I never knew that expressing creativity could take so much time and energy.

I hope you have (or had depending on when my assistant ever gets around to mailing this) a wonderful birthday and that you celebrate with a lot of friends.

Yours truly,

Spacey movie release

Billionaire Boys Club

It would appear that Billionaire Boys Club may be going to have some kind of theatrical release after all. According to IMDB, it will be released in the US on August 3 and Portugal on September 27. The official trailer is on YouTube and is showing a July 19 release date somewhere I can’t place yet. Thank you to Randi.

Fall From Grace

YouTube suggests…

Kevin Spacey and Bernadette Peters as Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker in the old TV movie Fall From Grace which suddenly turned up as a suggested video on YouTube this afternoon. It’s a bit on the grainy side but that only makes the movie seem weird and a bit icky. This is likely not on Kevin Spacey’s list of must see projects.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Some updates

This is going to be a looong one.

Since the Kevin Spacey Foundation has decided to distance themselves from Kevin Spacey and close down, the link on the Links page works but there is nothing at the site address to see. They seem to have taken down the related YouTube channel as well so I removed that link altogether. Kevin’s own YouTube channel and his official site are still online but have not been updated in quite a while. His web site hadn’t been updated regularly anyway, so that’s not really news. Unless I am mistaken, his Twitter and Facebook pages have not been used by him since October. There is nothing to add to the Coming Soon pages since Netflix stopped Gore and there is no release date info on the IMDB for Billionaire Boys Club.

I was going to try to add some of the stuff that had never been transferred from the old DMS site but my laptop is currently unusable and I don’t know if the old FrontPage program I used to use still works on this old work computer I am using right now.  While I couldn’t publish with that program. I was still able to access and copy the files.

I added (or I think I added) the few non-Spacey photos I took when I went to NYC for The Iceman Cometh to the page about my trip. I know I scanned them.

I have been thinking about changing the tag line for the site title from A Kevin Spacey Fan Site to something else but I’m not sure what. KevieBear is kind of in limbo right now although has made a few posts on his FB page. He’s thinking of branching out in a different direction.

I have been spending my time trying to convince myself to start doing the major cleaning and de-cluttering work that desperately needs to be done around the house but so far that has eluded me. I’ve had 2 bouts of tonsillitis since November, my allergies and sinuses have not let up at all and I have just had a bad case of the blahs for the past month or so. Hopefully once the weather improves and I can get outside it will help. I *have* started my seeds for the coming season using my dad’s old seed starting set up and that has been both sad at times and made me feel better at times. I’ve been taking pictures with his old camera since mine succumbed to a strange accident. This camera takes pictures in color, b/w or sepia. Very artsy but not very practical. Fortunately the SD card was salvaged from my camera so I didn’t lose all those photos and most of the edited versions of those photos are on various flash drives.

I finally figured out how to get rid of the date stamp when taking pictures. Here are some photos for your viewing pleasure:

I have thought about starting a second site for my gardening but don’t think I have the energy for that right now. If I do, it would have pictures of my miniature gardens, such as the miniature garden from last year. Anyone who was a friend on my gardening page on FB will have already seen all the pictures shown today.

Think I should do a gardening page?

Where do we go from here?

I decided to go ahead and pay for one more year of web hosting for DMS since I didn’t want to wipe out 17 years of work and (mostly) good memories while feeling so conflicted on the matter and simultaneously trying to get through the holidays and all of the family birthdays for the first time since my father died. I decided it would be better and easier to make any decision in my own time, so to speak, rather than feeling the emotional pressure of the hosting plan expiring and feeling I had to make a decision with the clock ticking.

So that pressure is off and this past week I’ve been feeling the urge to work on the site in some way but when I log on to WordPress I just sit there staring at the computer screen. I don’t have a clue how to go forward.
