KevieBear’s Journey To The Moon – The End
May 15, 2007
Hello? Is someone there? I can hear you breathing.
The box shakes violently back and forth.
I….. CAN’T…….. BREATHE ….. OPEN….. BOX…… NOW……. Gasp! I almost didn’t make it. I didn’t know I could hold my breath that long. Hey everyone! I’M HOME!
It’s good to be home. Hello Mr. Driving Mr. Spacey bear! Hello Lex Luthor Slurpee cup! Group hug!
What an adventure I’ve been on. Did I get any phone calls? I’m expecting to hear from Kev or his people.
Oh, of course. *You* would know him as Kevin Spacey. But I call him Kev now that we’re best buds. Seriously! We met at the theater. In New York City! Nooo, I didn’t go to the moon exactly. It’s a long story. But when we met, he was very impressed by my ability to be calm under the glare of the cameras and in front of the crowd. That’s one of the critical lessons for all actors to learn. Kev said I was a natural. Nooo, he didn’t say that in so many words. We didn’t need to exchange words. True actors speak with their eyes and their body language and his said he couldn’t believe what he was seeing with his own two eyes. I could tell. I’m sure I’ll be hearing from his people soon. For an acting job or something. I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow. Right now I need to get some sleep. I’m bushed. I can’t wait to get out of these clothes!
KevieBear goes to sleep and sleeps the sleep of the innocent.
July 10, 2007 – KevieBear awakes from his hibernation, brought on by his very long journey to the moon and decides to relax in the sun. He daydreams of movie stardom and the many awards that will come his way. He’d like to thank the academy.
“I’d like to thank my mother, my agent, my best new pal Kev, my spacey friends who made this all possible: Laura, Joanne, Liz, Jackie, Jackie’s fiancé David and Marlene. The hairy pig and the big cats who were my inspiration. That other woman. What’s her name again? That one who buys my sweaters, lets me live in her house and use her computer. It’s not coming to me. Um, well, thanks anyway. You’re the best. Some day through hard work and perseverance, I know that you, the little people, will see the realization of your own…”
KevieBear suddenly realizes that he never heard from Kevin Spacey’s people about working with Kevin!
I don’t understand. Where are the emails? The phone messages? The registered letters? The contracts waiting to be signed? Maybe I forgot to give Kevin my address. I know! I’ll write him a letter! Where is my new stationery and my box of antique wax pens? There they are!
Let’s see.. how shall I start?
Dear Mr. Spacey … no, too formal for good friends. Scratch that. Dear Kevin… better, but everyone calls him that. Scratch that too. I know! I’ll call him Kev, the way all his close friends and business associates do.
Ok, I have the Dear Kev part, now what shall I say?
KevieBear quickly finishes his letter to Kevin Spacey and addresses the envelope.
There! It’s done! This baby is going in the mailbox and I’ll bet I have a reply in a week. Two at the most. I can’t wait. I wonder how long it takes to get a new passport these days? It can’t take that long. I may be in London by my birthday at the end of the month.
KevieBear takes the letter to the mailbox and then goes back inside to wait and make plans. His journey to the moon has turned into a trip to the stars. His life will never be the same.
