Later today or tomorrow morning, the news from the past 4 months will move to the News Archives.
I’ve added the URL for the official Edison web site to the Edison news page. There is wallpaper, trailers and some photos from the film. Several with Kevin in them. Is the film still scheduled to release in theaters in NYC tomorrow?
I’m going to try to focus more on Superman Returns now as well. When and if they (the WB publicity department) actually feature Kevin in something. They’re already beating us over the head with Brandon Routh as Superman but I think Kevin’s fans are likely more interested in another character in the film. Am I wrong?

Some snippets to end the year on – A woman in the UK named Cilla Black (I think she must be a TV personality of some kind. UK fans will have to help me out here..) has reported that Kevin does not have the dreaded man breasts. Funny, I think that may be one thing that has never turned up on a poll reply on this site.
Kevin has been named ‘Favourite Actor’ by Empire magazine readers who wisely chose Tom Cruise as ‘Most Annoying’. Or was it ‘Most Irritating’?
And an Australian gossip site reports that Kevin was a demanding diva on the Superman set.
Thanks to Cynthia, Jen, Bree, Kelly and Linda.

I humbly beg forgiveness. On Monday, I forgot to wish a happy birthday to my sister Suzanne who wishes to remain anonymous!
I am so, so, sooooo sorry!
Phew! That was close.
Kevin’s picture is in the new TIME magazine. The one with Bono and Bill Gates and his wife on the cover. I don’t recall which page but it’s a picture of him as Verbal Kint in The Usual Suspects. The movie is part of a DVD boxed set of movies that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. It’s a recommended purchase.
There will be a chat Christmas Eve for any fans who are looking for company. Chat room. 9pm-ish
Anyone seen the Wizard magazine? Any reason to buy it?
December 17, 2005
Tonight’s movie for chat will be The Ref.
Magazine alert! Wizard: The Comics Magazine. Wizard #172, the 2006 Preview issue available on Wednesday. The issue features a big Superman Returns preview and Kevin will be part of their Q&A section.
I’ve added the info above to the calendar page, which looks very sad compared to the calendar page last year around this time.

It has come to this fellow Spacey fans.. in order to see, read or hear anything new, I have been forced to play and replay the Honda Pilot ad that is being used as the free entrance ad at Salon.com today. Ordinarily, I click my way through to the site (ignoring the ads) but today I decided to watch the ad (just in case, you know) and sure enough, after sitting through nearly the entire ad, I was ultimately rewarded with the lovely sound of Kevin’s voice encouraging me to buy a Honda Pilot. You can replay it it over and over and over. At least until they change the ad, which will probably be later today.
TLC is telling fans that Going Hollywood might return to the airwaves in January.
Crazy weather on the east coast today. According to my local weatherman, I can expect snow showers, or rain, maybe sleet, could be snow with sleet, or possibly sleet followed by snow followed by rain. Then there’s a chance there could snow followed by ice followed by rain, or there could be 1/4″ of ice with 2″-3″ of snow, but it’s also likely to all turn to rain. Every so often the words freezing rain get tossed into the forecast. So far, it’s just been very cold with some teensy snowflakes. Or as the song goes, “Little bits of heaven floating gently by the window…”
If this keeps up, I’m going to have to drag out the old Kevin trapped in a blizzard poll.
Can you believe it’s not only been a year since we were all giddy with the concerts Kevin was doing, but it’s also been a year since I tried to make a sugar cookie that looked like Kevin’s profile? I was going to use it as the site photo for the holidays. The only one that came out looking like someone, broke when it was being transferred to the cooling rack. I wonder if I have the courage to try again, only this year with gingerbread? See what happens when I can’t do photo stuff due to a bad monitor? Not only do I start rambling, but I also come up with ideas such as a cookie made to look like Kevin Spacey.
December 13, 2005
Well. TLC has yanked the remaining episodes of Going Hollywood so there will be no Kevin at Cannes later in the month.
December 8, 2005

I’ve been having monitor problems since the weekend which have kept me from updating the site. Just as there was something to mention!
Kevin actually went somewhere without letting his devoted fans know in advance that he was going to be there. He was in Washington, DC over the weekend for the Kennedy Center Honors which will be televised on CBS on December 27. Kevin was there to honor nominee Julie Harris who was being honored for her theater work. Most people know her from her film work such as one of my favorite films, The Haunting (Not that awful one with Liam Neeson. I mean the original version.).
Kevin had a few mentions in the Washington Post. I’ll add those later tonight when I have a few minutes.
I’ll also add a few new pictures as soon as I have a decent monitor. The loaner I’m using has such a dark screen that the site page backgrounds appear to be jet black instead of red and I can’t tell what I’m doing with my picture program.
Don’t forget. Tonight on TLC, the first 2 episodes of Going Hollywood. I’m not sure if we’ll see Kevin until an episode later in the month, but you never know.
I missed the Beyond The Sea movie chat. Does anyone want to try watching that one again on Saturday?
November 30, 2005
A few things to keep an eye out for. Next week’s TV Guide (which may be available now) has this about Going Hollywood:
“A trio of entertainment wannabes get to troll for the likes of Kevin Spacey, Robert Evans and rapper Method Man in this three week reality series that could do more for interns than any blue dress at the Gap”. There is a picture of Kevin, that has the caption “Kevin help us”
And on December 27th, Kevin’s interview on AMC’s Sunday Morning Shootout that put everyone in a tizzy when he said he was going to do concerts to advertise Beyond the Sea will be included in a new DVD collection called Sunday Morning Shootout: The Best of Season One. Season One is supposed to be released in 2 disc sets and a 6 disc deluxe set.
Kevin’s interview will be on the disc titled The Triple Threat- Actor/Director/Producer.
November 26, 2005
Can you believe that it’s been a year already since everyone was so excited about Kevin’s concert tour? In honor of that, there will be a Beyond The Sea movie chat next Saturday night, December 3, at 9pm EST.
November 23, 2005
The polls are open again. I’ve dusted off the Thanksgiving poll from 2003 and retired the popular prot/not prot poll. I’ve also added some Richard II fan reviews and photos to the Old Vic section.
Spacey fan Cathie sent me the following info. I’m feeling too dragged out to track it down online myself so I shall just copy and paste:
The LA Times did an article on who might get the nod to host the Oscars in 2006 with the pros and cons of each. The list started with former hosts (Crystal, Martin, Rock, Goldberg, Letterman) then came a few late nighters (Leno, O’Brien) followed by Hanks, Robin Williams and then…..Kevin.
Kevin Spacey: Actor. Pros: He’s won two Oscars, he’s terrific at hosting “Saturday Night Live,” he does great impressions. Cons: As the current artistic director of the Old Vic theater in London, his day job keeps him far away from Hollywood.
Also, there are a few comments people wrote in making some interesting points:
I think Kevin Spacey would be terrific. He hosted the John Lennon tribute in 2001 in New York, as well as SNL, so he has experience. He’s also very funny, and as you said, does great impressions. And he’s a gifted, respected actor. Why not have someone host the Oscars who can represent the dedicated, serious side of the industry, but can also make you laugh?
Kevin Spacey while he could easily do it, isn’t a big enough draw for younger audiences.
What Billy Crystal brings to the show is an unabashed love of the movies, right or wrong, which means loving the Oscars with all their attendant glitz, faux suspense, and gaudy absurdity. Kevin Spacey would be an outstanding choice. A great entertainer with a touch of class. And Oscar loves him, but . . . does Kevin love Oscar?
November 14, 2005
I’m closing the poll section for a while. I’m not able to keep up with the polls and mail this week, so I’m going to remove the link from the navigation chart for the rest of the week until I get caught up. Kevin’s fans love the polls, you know.
November 7, 2005
I’m going to be unable to work on my site for at least the next 3 or 4 days so if you sent any polls, fan reviews or pictures that haven’t appeared yet, it may be the weekend before I can get to them.
November 4, 2005
Add this to your calendar: TLC (The Learning Channel). Going Hollywood. December 7 at 9pm EST. Thanks to Laura for being on the ball with that one!
I’ve moved the Halloween entrance page photo to the Spacey Gazette Headline Archives.
November 1, 2005
Kevin’s fans think he’s such a sexy devil (did you see the new entrance page picture?) that I’ve had to add another page to the Hot For Kevin poll results page!
Inquiring minds are asking what is behind the ankle wrinkles mentioned on the poll. Fans who have been around for a while will tell you that several years ago while doing PR for a movie (Shipping News maybe?) he appeared on Letterman, on their annual Halloween show. Each year, Dave gives away funny items to children in a trick-or-treat skit. That year, he gave a child socks he said he took from Kevin Spacey’s dressing room. When Kevin came out later, he sat down and crossed his legs and he had no socks on. This provided a big laugh and they did something of a close-up of Kevin’s bare ankles and to the horror (and the delight) of his fans ….. he had wrinkles on his ankles!
Does anyone know where I can find other pictures of Kevin wearing his socks with his sandals? This too is intriguing some of his fans. This picture apparently was taken in an airport so we will assume he wore sandals to make it easier to remove his shoes for security reasons and maybe his feet were cold, but I know he’s been caught wearing socks with his sandals when he was wearing shorts. That is the look the poll refers to.
October 31, 2005
I was scrounging around in the Spacey Gazette archives and came across the picture above. It was the Halloween 2002 Gazette photo.
October 29, 2005
Inquiring Spacey fan in Australia wants to know: Is that Kevin in an Eclipse Mint ad currently playing there? If any Australian fans are out there and can let us know, we’d appreciate it. Or even fans who aren’t Australian for that matter.
Movie chat – I was going to suggest Pay It Forward for a movie chat tonight seeing how it’s almost Halloween, but I don’t actually have that movie so I’d have to take a shower and get dressed and go to Hollywood Video and then I’d want a snack for the movie and when I think of PIF I always think of the great bag of candy corn I was eating when I originally saw the movie so I’d have to stop off at the grocery store to buy some and frankly, they should call Saturday mornings “Stupid Man Day” at the grocery store, no offense to any male fans out there, so on second thought, how about K-PAX instead? 9pm tonight, chat room.
October 28, 2005
Some fans are telling me that they’ve been so busy looking at Kevin’s warm, brown eyes and friendly smile that they hadn’t noticed the missing tooth and wanted to know of a picture it might be seen in. The picture to the right shows it in a small way.
Spacey fan Barbara (UK) tells me there are a few pictures of Kevin in the new December issue of Empire magazine. A large photo of Kevin as Lex Luthor with a short write up on page 20 and on page 38 there’s a photo of Kevin with his Richard II co-star Ben Miles and they remind us to catch Kevin in Richard II before it closes on November 26th.
October 27, 2005
Earlier in the week, Spacey fans were discussing a blog entry in which a woman not only gave her impressions of Richard II, she also spoke of her meeting Kevin at a champagne reception at the Old Vic. In the blog, she mentioned that Kevin’s backward hat looked idiotic (Who would *ever* mention his hats on the Internet?) and that up close he looked “icky” and he could use some plastic surgery to make him easier on the eyes. Really! She said that! Can you imagine *anyone* commenting on his wrinkles online?
Anyway, it made me laugh.
Some fans weren’t as amused. I was going to mention it on this site, but as my site email would prove, Kevin’s fans don’t always take kindly to what they see as a slight. But I thought her comments were especially funny since several years ago as some fans are aware of, I wrote Kevin Spacey a long and rambling fan letter in which I not only questioned his taste in movies by telling him I didn’t get why he thought American Beauty was so great, I also told him that I hoped he wasn’t getting his wrinkles and eye bags fixed (some of his photos at the time seemed a tad airbrushed if you get my meaning) because there are already too many pretty boy actors out there and his fans like him the way he is. He never replied or sent an autographed photo in the mail for some reason.
So, I was trying to decide whether or not to mention this woman’s blog and during this time, it was discussed on one of the fan forums and I had said it was obvious that she was trying to hide her sudden passion for Kevin and his eye bags from her husband and her readers, ha ha ha.
This has now made it to her blog. Today there’s an update at the end of her Spacey review called “Kevin Spacey fans are annoyed” in which she briefly mentions Kevin’s fans reactions to her blog.
So what, you ask? I only mention this because it has inspired my newest Spacey poll. Spacey poll #39 – Hot for Kevin. I hope it works. I haven’t done a test run yet. I guess we shall see.
October 26, 2005
Today Driving Mr. Spacey! is 5 years old. Too bad there isn’t cake and some ice cream.

You can find one of Kevin’s new Honda commercials at the following link. Is it my imagination or did I hear a touch of the British when he says Honda? There’s no need to register to see the ad. Just click past the page asking you to register and the ad page is underneath. It’s called Honda Civic – Keyholes. Very big thanks to Sue for the link.
**Link no longer works.
Photo above: Back by popular demand, everyone’s favorite picture of Kevin and his Mini. *Moved it.
You may have noticed that the page banners are blank on most of the site right now. This is due to a glitch in the loading process several days ago which will require each page to now be individually saved before reloading in order for each banner to work properly. This may take some time as there are about 250+ pages that have banners on them.
The last time I had this problem occur, by the time I had checked out pages I hadn’t seen in a few years, I had the urge to gut the site and start over from scratch.
I resisted then. I shall try to resist now.
I have removed the messed up and out of date Spacey Links page from the navigational chart for now, as well as the Guest Map. Due to Kevin’s putting an end to the rumor of a TUS sequel, I have also retired the Kevin’s Usual Sequel poll. The final results were 115 votes for it being a good idea and 111 votes for it being a bad idea. I’ve also retired the After The Party’s Over, Kevin’s Little Gold Sticker and Loaded Kevin Spacey polls.
October 15, 2005
During the Charlie Rose interview the other evening, Kevin told Charlie that he was going to bring A Moon For The Misbegotten to Broadway after he does the play at the Old Vic next year so I’m going to take a wild guess and say early to mid 2007.
Kevin also told Charlie the Usual Suspects sequel was nothing more than a made up rumor and that he felt it was a terrible idea. I’m happy to see that he’s backing me up on that but this may mean the premature end of the TUS sequel poll.
October 13, 2005
Spacey Fan Jen made another trek to Hollywood and while she was there stopped once again to make sure Kevin’s star was clean and shiny. As happened before, passersby found this to be peculiar and stopped to watch. In the first picture below, S.F. Jen calls other fans so they can share the love in real time. Looks like this time she took the Brasso in order to do a better job. And this was sweet, she also found Jack Lemmon’s star and made sure that was polished too. Our thanks to S.F. Jen.
October 12, 2005
I read on Legacy that Kevin is supposed to be a guest on the Charlie Rose show tomorrow night. That’s Thursday. Check your local PBS listings for times. They often repeat it the next day during the day.
October 11, 2005
More sightings of another Honda commercial with Kevin’s voice. I haven’t come across even one so far. Thanks to Spacey fans Kelly and Linda (not that one, another one) for that Spacey info.
Spacey fans who have known of my agonizing the past few months over whether to continue the site once my web host agreement runs out tomorrow may get a laugh out of this next thing.
The company I use sends you an email telling you the agreement will expire the next day and if you want to continue for another year, you have to reply and they give you a link where you can update your credit card info before they charge you and so on.
I just haven’t been able to make up my mind. Last year there was so much going on with the BTS concert tour and all the BTS press and all the TV appearances and I was being inundated with emails from so many fans of both Kevin Spacey and Bobby Darin (which I still do to this day) and I’ll admit I was hoping that my site and the fans who use it, might be treated to some BTS advertising, which to my great disappointment, we were basically shut out of (on this site anyway) that I just couldn’t end things.
But this year, there’s not much for a Spacey fan site owner to do unless you live in England. That reminds me.. my next poll may be whether I should delete the Edison section out of kindness now. Anyway.. I just have not been able to make up my mind. I’ve still been wishy washy about it as of this morning and the site would have gone poof tomorrow if I didn’t decide to continue.
To make a long story short.. the matter was taken out of my hands. This morning I have an email from my web host company telling me they went ahead and billed me for another year.
It’s probably going to be easier to just go with it than to try to get out of it at this point so it looks like DMS lives.

Other fans had noticed the Honda commercial I mentioned a few days ago. It’s been seen on TV as well as at the movies. And now Spacey fan Cathie points me to the following item from Yahoo and Adweek.com.
Honda, VW Spots Put Safety First
Taking strategy from Volvo’s playbook, both Honda and Volkswagen break spots mid-month that emphasize new safety innovations. The efforts dedicate more media dollars to safety as a way to claim good corporate citizenship.
Two 30-second Honda spots continuing the 2004 “Safety for Everyone” campaign eschew crash test-center sterility in favor of the lush cinematic look of Danish director Henrik Hansen to “create an emotional connection to the subject,” said Joe Baratelli, cd at independent RPA, Santa Monica, Calif.
“Cages” shows various wildlife resting in Civic A.C.E. (Advanced Compatibility Engineering) body frames in natural settings and ends with an avian-eyed girl. (The voiceover by new spokesman, actor Kevin Spacey, says: “Ingeniously designed to protect the things that most need protecting.”) “Safer Roads” uses driver POV shots of a city where busses, buildings and trees are wrapped in padding.
“It’s always part of Honda’s interest … bringing safety to the forefront is the right thing to do,” said Rob Alen, manager of corporate advertising at Honda, Torrance, Calif.
Volkswagen’s 60-second spot, “Thank You Very Much,” shows comfort and safety features and a row of crash dummies blissfully awaiting rough rides. The voiceover is “120 not-so-standard features. One all-new German-engineered Passat.”
Neither VW nor Honda would disclose spending on safety spots, but Alen said Honda is spending more this year on the subject.

An alert fan tells me there’s a new Honda Civic commercial playing at the movies that has a voiceover that sounds a lot like Kevin Spacey. Has anyone else noticed this?
I seem to be farther behind in my site mail than I had initially thought. I seem to have mail left over from the first week of September. I’ll try to work on that this week. If you’ve sent an email that was never answered, be assured that I do read each and every email and feedback that is sent to the site.
October 2, 2005
There’s just nothing going on these days is there?? Mr. Spacey, pleeeeeease do something for your fans who aren’t able to attend a play at the Old Vic.
It’s already to the point that in order to have anything to do, I’ve had to go on Kangol’s web site to check out the hats to see which one Kevin may show up in at the Old Vic stage door. There are some scary hats with kangaroos on them out there. Let us hope we never see the one with earflaps!
Still no firm date for that reality show on TLC.
Here’s a treat for chat fans: Saturday’s movie will be… American Beauty! That’s because I won’t be at the chat so it will be safe for everyone to say what they like about the film. If you can find anything, that is. The appeal of this film still eludes me.
September 18, 2005
Spacey fan Cynthia sent me a link for a UK radio show called Dead Ringers. Towards the end of the show featured yesterday, an impressionist calls a theater pretending to be Kevin. He was pretty good. I believe “Kevin” makes his appearance near the end at about 19:24:45. Thanks to Cynthia.

Premiere gives away the end of the movie.

How did something billed as an interview with acting’s great enigma turn into an article titled Kevin Spacey: ‘I know I’m a big target’? Interesting. Anyway, you can find the article here.
A big thanks to Joanne and Janet and Janet’s friend for sending me the links. I have to say that in all of the articles we’ve ever read about Kevin Spacey, I don’t recall ever reading that his father moved the family to the Bronx and to South Carolina.
Plus you can watch the video of Kevin being interviewed on the BBC this morning here. I don’t know how long they keep their interviews so you’d probably better check it out as soon as possible.
Thanks to Karen at Legacy (even though she doesn’t know she was my source for the link).
September 10, 2005
It looks like Edison may be going to DVD in Germany and Switzerland on December 20. Thanks Ursula.
UK news Spacey fan Jenny tells me that there is a half page color ad w/pic in today’s (Saturday) Guardian. Very handsome, blue suit, shirt and tie with smile. Announcing that in tomorrow’s Observer ‘KEVIN SPACEY INTERVIEW – ACTING’S GREAT ENIGMA’.
I also had this Spacey mention, from The Telegraph, snipped from an article about Trevor Nunn, director of Kevin’s newest play: “…Kevin gave an overwhelmingly emotional, unforgettable performance in rehearsals. What a shame there were only five of us present. I now see why Spielberg refuses to rehearse unless there’s a camera running.”
Thanks to Anonymous #158.
And this: Kevin is supposed to be on a tv show tomorrow morning called Sunday Morning. The email I got says it’s on BBC1 North East. Thanks to “You don’t have to mention my name”.
September 7, 2005
Edison I found this sentence in an article about the Toronto Film Festival: Even the closing-night selection, “Edison,” David J. Burke’s thriller with Kevin Spacey, Justin Timberlake, Morgan Freeman and LL Cool J, is viewed by some pundits as an awards-season contender. An awards-season contender? If that’s the case, then why do so many of Kevin’s fans have the idea that the movie is gonna be a flop? I hope these weren’t the same “pundits” that said there was Oscar buzz swirling around Pay It Forward a few months before anyone actually saw it.
It’s going to have to work hard to convince Kevin’s fans to take a chance on it. So take your best shot. Convince us. We have so little to look forward to these days!
Old Vic Theatre The complete new season for the Old Vic will be announced tomorrow. Thanks to Cathie for the heads up.
September 6, 2005
Superman Returns There is a new picture of Kevin as Lex Luthor in the latest issue of Newsweek. An article about the making of the movie. September 12, 2005, page 68. There’s an enlarged version on the SR news page, link above. I’ll add the article it comes from to the site in a few days.
Edison news Spacey fan Marina tells me that the imdb shows a straight to video release date for Germany. October 25. That’s not a good sign!
September 2, 2005
Got some money and want to spend it on Hurricane Katrina relief aid? I read in the Washington Post this morning that Morgan Freeman, Kevin’s co-star in Se7en and the upcoming Edison, was holding an auction in conjunction with a site called CharityFolks.com to raise money for the hurricane relief.
It’s mostly entertainment type items up for auction, including tickets for premieres, concert tickets, vacations, pictures, movies, posters and autographs and other types of things. I haven’t seen anything Spacey listed but there are one or two items available for B.B. King, Xena/Lucy Lawless, George Clooney, REM and Orlando Bloom fans. You must be 18 years of age to bid.
This is the end of the news on this page. I’ve moved the news for May through August to the News Archives.
