Daniel Powter is the scheduled musical guest for Kevin’s SNL hosting job next month. I don’t know who that is. Thanks to Laura for the info. Several reports say that Kevin has personally asked a singer named Will Young to appear at the next Old Vic fundraiser. I don’t know who *that* is either.

DJ from the Legacy group tells Spacey fans that you can purchase a Lex Luthor standee from allposters.com. I am embarrassed to say that I just plunked down $35 plus $20 shipping for a 6′ tall Lex Luthor.
(See what happens when you start feeling deprived and left out because all you can find at Target, Wal Mart and Toys R Us are a handful of Superman action figures and a Lois Lane Barbie?!!!)
I am more embarrassed and even slightly ashamed to admit that I made sure I had my order placed before I told any other fans, just in case there’s a run on the things. I am a bad fan site owner. I make sure I get mine and *then* I tell everyone else. I’m sorry. Really, I am.
I am now having visions of hundreds of fans dragging their standees to NYC next year to have Kevin autograph them and him coming out of the stage door and finding a crowd of Lex Luthors waiting for him.

Someone was the 350,000th hit on the entrance page hit counter today. Pretty impressive, huh? Especially when you consider that many people don’t use the front door.
The Spacey eye picture was freaking out some fans. I hope the new picture to the right is better. It was taken today in Germany.
I’m reading that EDISON is going straight to DVD this summer.
Tomorrow night’s movie chat will be The Big Kahuna.
I’ll update the polls tomorrow afternoon and catch up on the mail. If you’ve written to me but I haven’t replied, please be assured that I do read all the emails even if I don’t get all of them answered.
I’ll also update my Superman Returns page.
April 16, 2006
This just in SNL/Spacey fan Mark tells me that Kevin is scheduled to host the May 20th, season finale, of Saturday Night Live as part of his Superman Returns promotion. Mark your calendars now!
A very big thanks to Mark.

You can hear the lovely sound of Kevin’s voice this morning on BBC Radio’s Today Programme. He’s at 0755 (When the curtain comes down at the Old Vic on Saturday night there are no plans for it to go up again until September. That’s five months away. It has made the critics question what is going on there. The theatre’s artistic director Kevin Spacey joins the programme.) Here’s the link. Thanks to anonymous feedback #431.

Lex Luthor memorabilia alert!! I’ve been told that there is a Lex Luthor collectible cut-out card on the back of a box of Honey Graham Life cereal. Look for Superman on the cover. Thanks to Esther at Legacy by way of anonymous feedback #873.
I’ll scan it and add it to the Lex Luthor Collectibles page as soon as I can get my hands on one. How exciting! Kevin Spacey on the back of a box of cereal.
*I’ve added more info to the SR News page as well as a scan of the card/game piece itself.
April 9, 2006
Yesterday I added a new page to the Superman Returns section. It’s for pictures of Lex Luthor memorabilia that fans find out there. I also updated the calendar page.
Kevin is briefly seen on the Juilliard birthday special that has been floating around PBS stations this past week. If you have a chance to catch, I’ve been told he’s on in the first 15 minutes making a few brief comments about what Juilliard meant to him.

Happy April’s Fools Day! I’m afraid I’ve been so busy and exhausted with work lately that this year’s joke is that I actually found the energy today to update some of the polls. I never had time to do my Lex Luthor Mr. Potato Head joke that I had planned. Oh well.
It’s not like there’s been anything going on Spacey wise these days that needed to be reported quickly.
I have been so tired that I fell asleep during the chat last week and forgot to say goodnight before turning the laptop off after I woke up and decided to go to bed. And so tired that I didn’t have the energy to report that American Beauty was called the worst film to ever win the Best Picture Oscar in EW magazine a few weeks ago, a claim that was reiterated in *this* week’s issue. Now that is tired.

The Washington Post Style, Page C3 The Reliable Source by Amy Argetsinger and Roxanne Roberts THIS JUST IN…
Kevin Spacey has been announced as this year’s recipient of the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Will Award, to be presented at a fundraising gala in May. The award is given annually to a person who has championed classical theater. The Oscar winner, who in 1981 made his New York debut in “Henry IV, Part 1,” is artistic director of London’s historic Old Vic theater.
It’s a shame there was no picture in the paper. Thanks to Cathie.
What does the picture above mean? That’s right, it’s Spacey fan Jen’s supply list for her Big Star Cleaning Kit. Times have changed since her first trip to the Spacey star when she used an old tissue to wipe the dirt away. Now it takes an entire crew and a duffel bag full of Spacey star cleaning essentials. In our next news update, Spacey fan Jen will be ignoring the stares and jeers and confused looks of the tourists and film crews wandering the streets in front of the Kodak Theater while she does her fanly duty and tends to Kevin’s crumbling, filthy star. In spite of her best efforts, it still looks like people walk on it. We’re going to have to file a complaint with someone.
Next news update – here we go! Is it really so odd to see someone cleaning these stars? Hey! I’ve just had a fantastic idea. A way to drum up business for the Old Vic! How does this sound? Kevin could do chalk drawings on the sidewalk in front of the building and when people stop and stare, he can give them his OV sales pitch.
Thanks to Spacey fan Jen, her friend Cathy and friend Cathy’s no doubt long-suffering husband Eric.

Superman Returns There are a few new items on the Superman Returns news page.
March 11, 2006
Spacey Birthday greetings to Spacey fans Isis and Sarita.
In honor of Friday being St. Patrick’s Day, next week’s movie chat will feature Ordinary Decent Criminal.
Several fans have informed me that I’m not the only fan younger than Kevin.
There was some Superman Returns news that I was going to post the other day but now can’t remember what it was. Maybe it will come to me.
A few clips for fans to see. First, thanks to Anne for sending the link to Kevin’s Biography episode.
March 4, 2006
Kevin was snapped entering the Old Vic’s Resurrection Blues VIP night, last night. The good news is he was looking very stylish from the forehead down, but from the forehead up, it was a different story altogether. Rumor has it that the tie he was wearing was given to him by a fan at the stage door this past year. More about that later.
Kevin’s chest hair has now passed the 800 mark on the Kevin’s Hair poll. That is the most votes anything in any poll has ever received.
Kevin has apparently told viewers of the Parkinson show that he will be in a second Superman film and possibly a third. I personally hope the Superman films are going to be spread out over the next 4 or 5 years so we can see Kevin in something other than that.
March 3, 2006
A very Spacey 49th!!! birthday greeting for Spacey fan Jen, Keeper of the Spacey Star. Does this mean I’m still the only fan who’s younger than Kevin Spacey? I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m impressed she can get down on her knees to scrub and polish Kevin’s star on the Walk of Fame once a year. And then stand back up!
March 2, 2006
Happy 38th Anniversary Vivienne and Bob!
March 1, 2006
2006 seems to be whizzing by. Hard to believe it’s March already.
TV alert for the lucky UK fans – Kevin is scheduled to be a guest on Saturday night’s episode of the Parkinson show. It’s a new one! 9.55p.m ITV1
I wonder when he’s going to be on TV in the US? And by TV I don’t mean some 10 second interview on a red carpet that only 3 fans accidentally happened upon!
The first Lex Luthor action figure is supposed to hit stores in April.
February 25, 2006
There is going to be a two-night special Academy Awards chat event. Saturday night is movie chat night. The featured film will be The Usual Suspects, boasting the award winning performance of Kevin Spacey.
Sunday night, there will be a live Oscar chat, in which we can watch the show and dish about the clothes, the stars, the movies, the acceptance speeches. When it runs into March 6, we can gripe about how long the show is. Heartier souls may even manage to be around for the earlier red carpet reports. Click on the ticket above to take you to the chat room entrance.

OSCAR’S BEST & WORST MOVIES EVER
It’s a topic that never gets old – Oscar’s screw-ups. The times the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences doled out little gold-plated men to the undeserving, the mediocre, and the just plain wrong.
If you’re the sort of person who likes to get worked up about that sort of thing, there’s plenty to get worked up about. Some of the more storied controversies are not so cut and dried. Sure, it stinks that Citizen Kane didn’t get the 1941 Best Picture prize, but breathes there a man with a heart so dead that he’ll tell you How Green Was My Valley, that year’s winner, is objectively bad?
Similarly, the varied denials of director Martin Scorsese and his works – specifically Raging Bull and GoodFellas rankle, but there are masses out there carrying the very strong conviction that Ordinary People and Dances With Wolves – Best Picture winners that “robbed” Scorsese’s films in 1980 and 1990, respectively – are fine and wonderful and deserving. What we’ve tried to compile over the next couple of pages are lists that everyone can agree on. No, not really. Actually, more like the opposite. These are PREMIERE’S picks of the Academy’s biggest Best Picture (as the category has been known since 1962} gaffes countered by ten instances in which, for our money, voters got it right. All of the best still have highly resonant qualities that may not literally transcend time, but at least hold us intimately to the times they depict. Movies you can go back to again and again, as opposed to those which should be approached with extreme caution.

American Beauty 1999 WINNER OF BEST PICTURE AT THE 72ND ACADEMY AWARDS
Sam Mendes Kevin Spacey, Annette Bening, Thora Birch, Mena Suvari, Wes Bentley, Peter Gallagher Granted, this Alan Ball-scripted examination of a jaundiced suburbia has a brittle tang that distinguishes it from the standard-issue Hollywood blandouts that are customarily Best Picture fare. But beneath its surfaces there’s a tedious self-satisfaction. Nevertheless, it bamboozled a whole lot of critics, this magazine’s included. On reflection, one has to conclude that this is indeed a masterpiece – of bad faith.
(Blurb is accompanied by a tiny picture of Kevin and Mena Suvari)
I’m not gonna say a word. You can see both lists in the magazine or they may be on the Premiere web site.
February 22, 2006
Not much going on this week. One report had Kevin choking on a fly and acting students thinking it was brilliant acting on his part until he started gasping for water.
The polls seem to be working again. I will try to get the feedback form back online by the weekend.
February 14, 2006
The BAFTAs are Sunday in London. I wonder if Kevin will attend? Nope.
I knew Kevin had a heart shaped birthmark on his neck. It was noticeable in more than one stage door picture taken at the Old Vic last year. But I never knew about the one on the back of his head. Happy Valentine’s Day!
February 12, 2006
The polls were working again. Now they’re not. I was going to drag out the old Kevin Stuck In A Blizzard poll in honor of the deep snow blanketing the east coast this morning, but unfortunately cannot.
If anyone is stuck indoors and is so inclined, you can check the results page and then email your choices directly to me. You can do that with any of the polls, actually.
The Superman Returns official site has a new trailer up but Spacey fan Ciara tells me that Kevin ain’t in it. These Warner Bros. people are starting to bug me with their insistence on making the advertising all about Superman instead of partly about Lex Luthor.
I saw one of Kevin’s Honda commercials last night during a break in the Olympic figure skating.
February 8, 2006
Wireimage.com has pictures of Kevin arriving at the Grammy Awards this evening, where his BTS soundtrack is up for an award. Does this mean we’ll see him on the show itself?

Whatsonstage.com has a new radio interview with Kevin. Thanks to Kelly.
February 5, 2006
The various pages that use forms which were working yesterday, are once again not working today. In fact, as with last week, they seem to have stopped working late in the day on Saturday. I don’t know what the heck is going on. They appear to work but are not sending the form results to me. Rats. I’ll update the polls from the previous day and a half later today. I’ve had to remove the fan reviews form and the feedback form. If anyone has anything to say they’ll have to send it to me in an email.
February 3, 2006
Hey! I think the various forms are working now. I had a handful of poll responses waiting for me this morning. Guess I’ll know later once I have a chance to test some.
January 31, 2006
Forms and polls are still not working.
Kevin was presented with the Critics’ Circle Theatre Award for Best Shakespearean Performance for Richard II in London today. He also won the web-based Theatregoers Choice Award at Whatsonstage.com. More importantly, he arrived carrying his hat instead of wearing it. We’re so proud! More about both tomorrow evening. Thanks to Joanne, Kelly, Alexandra, Claire and Tine.
January 29, 2006
Before I left the SWS chat last night, I was noticing that there hadn’t been a single new poll response, site email, feedback or fan review on the site account. That’s very unusual for a Saturday night. It was even more unusual to have that still be the case by Sunday morning. After checking some of the polls and sending myself an email and a few other things as a test, I’ve discovered that mail that isn’t from an AOL account is arriving very slowly and the various forms on the site such as the polls, are not sending their info to me. I’m not sure why but if you tried to send me a feedback or email or did the polls since late yesterday, I didn’t get it.
It may take a day or two to sort that out. I’ll have to figure out which server is having problems.
January 27, 2006
Kevin attended the Morgan Stanley Great Britons awards in London last night. He seems to have been caught in the wind. Unless that’s his new look for 2006. He’s now been seen at two functions without his hat! We knew he could kick his hat addiction if he tried.
January 25, 2006
Spacey fan Cathie directed me to the following interesting item. It’s a review for a new play in London, involving puppets. One of which goes by the name Kevin and bears more than a passing physical resemblance to Kevin Spacey.
First night reviews
Low Life by Donald Hutera at BAC, SW11
What’s Kevin Spacey doing in a puppet show? The question arises within the first few minutes of Low Life, a co-presentation of the London International Mime Festival.
It’s actually not the A-list star who appears in Blind Summit’s production, but a less than life-sized likeness identified only as Kevin.
He’s no Spitting Image-style caricature either. The face bears an intensely ironical expression, accentuated by the furrows alongside the mouth, that is pure Spacey.
January 22, 2006
Kevin and the Old Vic are taking their production of Richard II to Germany for a week in May. I’m trying to find some info in English to post but for now, you can read about it in German here.
AMC is showing a tribute to Al Pacino tonight at 10pm EST. I don’t know if Kevin is on but I’d hate to find out later that he was.
January 20, 2006
Chat reminder – Saturday chat, 9pm EST, The Big Kahuna. Bring your own popcorn and DVD.
I’ve added, changed, or deleted some links on the Thanks & Links page. If anything doesn’t work, be sure to let me know.
Spacey fan request – Does anyone remember that interview Kevin did with Donahue on MSNBC back in 2002? I didn’t download the thing back when the transcript was available and the link doesn’t work now. I was wondering if anyone else had it. The transcript, I mean.
January 19, 2006
The new mini-poll is up and running. Just a small Martha Stewart-themed poll to give us all something to do while we wait for something to do. Poll #40.
Because of fan requests, I have added “Curls behind the ears” to the hair poll.
January 17, 2006
I’m going to have a new poll by the end of the week. Spacey Poll #40 – It’s a good thing.
Does Kevin really have a home? Now he’s in California. Or he was last night, at any rate. He attended a Golden Globe viewing party and post-show party in Beverly Hills. I’ll try to scrounge up a few pictures but for now can report that he was extremely handsome and debonair in a black suit and while he was wearing a very nice black tie, he left the trucker hats and backwards driving caps in his suitcase. Some of us were starting to get worried that the next picture of him would involve a tux and a hat with ear flaps. I am so relieved, you can’t possibly imagine.
January 15, 2006
There is a video on the Video Dog page of salon.com that cracks me up. Has anyone else seen it? It’s called “It’s A Miracle” and “Pat Robertson Heals!” and was an editor’s pick. I don’t want to describe it due to some fans not having seen TUS, but let’s just say that prayers are said for our own dear Verbal. The video requires Quicktime and you can do the free day pass to access the site.
Saturday’s movie with a chat will be The Big Kahuna and this time, we’re actually gonna watch the movie and talk about it. Really. We are.
January 11, 2006
I added the Spacey Q&A from Wizard magazine to the Superman Returns section, thanks to Kelly.
January 9, 2006
A very special wish for a happy birthday to my mother.
January 8, 2006
Things sure have been quiet this week. Hardly anything to report. So I must go to great lengths to come up with my own news. How about a Spacey sighting?
A roving correspondent for the Spacey Gazette tells me that he spotted Kevin at the Miami airport this past Tuesday while standing in a security line. I don’t know where Kevin was headed but he had attended a few New Year’s parties there. Rumor has it, Kevin’s flight companion was a petite, dark haired lass. I wonder if Kevin paid for her seat in First Class or made her fly baggage?
Thank you, roving correspondent Michael.
Someone passed on to me some Superman Returns marketing info that she’d seen elsewhere online. Here are a few things to keep an eye out for: trailer during the Super Bowl, several during NCAA playoffs, Lex Luthor poster out in April.
January 4, 2006
Does anyone know where a fan can find Simple Song of Freedom in an audio format? *Thanks to those who replied.
I’ve added the Spacey parts of the new Premiere magazine article about Superman Returns to the Superman Returns section. There’s also a photo of Kevin as Lex Luthor that you may have seen by now.
There was an interesting bit about how the director forbid Kevin to walk around in public without a hat on to confuse the local paparazzi. Kevin’s fans will tell you that when he wears a hat, he looks like Kevin Spacey in a hat. The paparazzi must have been easily confused.
And another bit, thanks to anonymous tipster #314 for pointing it out to me, about Kevin Spacey having his bald spot fanned by an assistant on the set. Guess they didn’t want the makeup to melt off. I wonder if the lucky woman will get screen credit as his bald spot fanner?
January 2, 2006
I just came across another Honda ad on the web that treats us to Kevin Spacey’s voice at the end. It’s for the Honda Hybrid and is the free day pass ad at Salon.com.
