A Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil fan is looking for a source for good quality glossies that feature Kevin as Jim Williams. Any suggestions?
And speaking of MGGE, Saturday night’s Movie and a Chat will feature the film. The chat starts at 9pm EST, the movie starts at 9:15. Bring your own DVD and popcorn, sports.
She’s wedged – Kevin’s episode of the 1980’s TV show The Equalizer will be on the Sleuth channel on Wednesday. Plus, if you have something called Goodlife Network you can catch his episode of Crime Story next week. Biography is also showing 30 minute and 60 minute biographies in September. Some dates and times are on the Spacey calendar page.
DVD release – Superman Returns is apparently scheduled for release on DVD at the end of November, just in time for your holiday gift giving.
I shall tackle the Herculean task of updating 2 months of poll responses starting tomorrow night. Wish me luck.

Superman Returns is going to be one of the featured subjects on A&E’s Breakfast With The Arts show on Sunday, August 13. 8am EST. You know what that means. Spacey sighting!
Thank you to the Breakfast Team for the heads up.
After months of looking, I finally saw the Missile Launching Lex Luthor action figure at Target Greatland earlier in the week. It was… MARKED DOWN!

In response to the emails I’ve received asking why the site has been languishing for the past several weeks, my mother had hip replacement surgery 2 weeks ago and between being with her at the hospital, followed by helping her at home and working, there has been no time for site updates. I haven’t even seen the Superman movie yet!
For the first time since I started my site, I was unable to get a birthday greeting posted in time for his birthday last week so I’ll offer a belated Happy 47th Birthday, Mr. Spacey!
Kevin’s Letterman appearance during the Superman Returns press junket is repeating tomorrow (Friday) night.
He was in Japan earlier in the week for the film’s premiere.
I still feel bad that I have no Spacey birthday cyber-gift to offer this year. Would a used cyber-greeting be considered bad form? How about the old 44th birthday greeting? That was a nice one. Enjoy.

ELLE (UK) – August 2006
July 9, 2006
The contest winners have been notified and they’ve responded, so all the other entries will be deleted now.
Spacey fan Jo sends me this for Australian fans: Kevin is a guest (via satellite) on “Enough Rope” with Andrew Denton on ABC TV at 9.35pmEST, Monday 10th July.
There will be a Shipping News movie chat on Saturday night, an American Beauty chat the following Saturday (I won’t be here for that one!) and a Beyond The Sea chat the Saturday night following *that*.
July 6, 2006
Check the Charlie Rose web site for a free download of last night’s show.
July 5, 2006
Check your local PBS daytime listings for today. There was an hour long Charlie Rose interview w/Kevin last night. The Charlie Rose show generally repeats the following day.
The Driving Mr. Spacey!/Superman Returns contest is officially over. The winners will be drawn today and will be notified by email within the next few days. Thank you to everyone who participated. The correct answers to the contest questions are on the Contest page.
July 3, 2006
Just a reminder – the Driving Mr. Spacey!/Superman Returns contest ends tomorrow night at midnight.
July 2, 2006
Kevin’s picture is in the Washington Post this morning. But the small item that accompanies the photo makes it obvious that the only reason his picture is in the paper is because of the dog he’s holding. Remember the picture of Kevin holding the little poodle at the Shakespeare gala thing in DC a while back? That poodle was Campari and is a constant companion of one Karen Feld, a long-time Washington gossip columnist who has a few paragraphs devoted to her in today’s The Reliable Source column in the Style section. Good thing Kevin was the one photographed holding her dog!
July 1, 2006
I’ve scanned the Player interview I posted about yesterday. In it, Kevin talks about having turned his back on the trappings of fame and celebrity.
He has the cover, the index page and another 5 full pages of color photos plus the interview. Clothes by Armani, Gucci, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana.
I found the magazine at Borders in the Hobbies section. It’s the gambling version of Player.
June 30, 2006
The Larry King episode from earlier in the week that caught everyone off guard will be repeated this weekend. Big thanks to Mark for the tip.
Regis Philbin followed by Brandon Routh, Bryan Singer, Kevin Spacey. Sunday night: 9pm EST. Early Monday morning: 12am EST, 3am EST.
Spacey fan Kelly tells me that Kevin has the cover of the July/August PLAYER magazine. Plus some great pictures inside the magazine.

Thought I’d put in a quick TV reminder before I go back and check for water coming in the basement window. That storm we had on the east coast last night was horrible and now it’s raining again. Hard!
Kevin is on Letterman tonight and Charlie Rose tomorrow night, so get your VCRs ready. He was interviewed by Al Roker on the Today show this morning. Not every day he’s interviewed outside, with his hair standing up in the breeze while the weatherman asks him questions about the Old Vic. He looked very handsome, as always.
I would ordinarily put this next bit on the Superman Returns news page, but am doing this update on the fly. Get it? Superman? Fly? Never mind. What I wanted to say is that in the middle of trying to divert water from the basement, I stopped to check my mail and there was a small package waiting for me. It was my 6th place prize from the Quaker Oats contest. The Superman UNO game I won. I should have a few extra prizes coming soon.
Another reminder. You still have a week in which to enter to win the SR posters.
June 23, 2006
I’ve updated the calendar page again. With any luck, there won’t be any more sudden surprises for us like last night’s unscheduled interview on Larry King.
June 22, 2006
Reminder: Kevin is a guest on The Tonight Show this evening and the entertainment news shows should all be covering last night’s SR premier. Entertainment Tonight shows a feature on SR on my cable’s digital guide.
I’ve updated the Calendar page. Big thanks to HC for the extra details!
June 20, 2006
Um. I wasn’t going to say anything. Really, I wasn’t. It seems rude to point it out and Miss Manners is probably swooning right now, but I can’t help myself.
I.. I.. I think Kevin has a new tooth.
I was enjoying some of the photos of his happy, smiling face from the TriggerStreet.com re-launch party that have appeared on the web and I realized that something looked a little bit different and it appears that after many, many years, he has filled in that hole where he had a missing tooth. You be the judge.
We kind of liked the way he used to have the big smile with the hole in his teeth. He’d just better not be planning anything for the bald spot!

Would you like to win a Superman Returns one sheet poster? Driving Mr. Spacey! is hosting a contest in conjunction with Warner Bros Pictures for Superman Returns prizes which include posters and a t-shirt. Since Spacey fans love their Spacey trivia, our contest will involve answering five crime-stopping questions pertaining to Kevin Spacey’s criminal past. Fans who answer all five questions correctly will be submitted to a drawing for the prizes. A list of rules and instructions are found at the link above. You can access the contest page directly here (but be sure to read the rules using the link on that page too!) or by clicking on the picture above.
Unfortunately, Warner Bros. rules prohibit me from offering the contest to anyone outside of the US and Canada.

It’s been a while since I posted any Beyond The Sea news! Due to the long-awaited Australian theatrical release(!) of the film, we now have a magazine interview/article from a publication that is available in Australia and New Zealand. FILMINK. Copies can also be purchased online by sending a request to email@example.com.
The 3 page article can be found here. Superman Returns cover is at www.filmink.com.au. Thank you to FILMINK for supplying the interview.
June 17, 2006
Kevin told an interviewer for MTV that he is *not* doing the movie My Blackberry Nights.
June 13, 2006
I added a new link to the Links page and info for a new magazine on the SR news page.
June 12, 2006
What do the words ‘pregnant’, police brutality’, ‘Pulitzer Prize’, ‘shot in the forehead’ and ‘eye patch’ have in common? If you said they’re Amazon’s plot keywords for the movie EDISON (which had a name change to Edison Force for DVD release) then you’re absolutely right. Spacey fan Kelly reminds me of it’s July 18 release.
I added the new Wizard magazine Q&A with Kevin to the Superman Returns Articles section. I put the article on two pages. The Q&A can be accessed from the bottom of the first page.
June 9, 2006
It appears that Kevin may be doing Letterman on June 26 and Conan on June 28. More later when the dates are closer.
June 7, 2006
I just saw a commercial for the Tony Awards. It’s hard to believe it’s been 7 years since The Iceman Cometh.
June 6, 2006
Some entertainment news reports are saying that Kevin has joined the cast of Hong Kong movie director Wong Kar-wai’s ‘My Blueberry Nights’.
June 4, 2006
I’ve added a few things to the Superman Returns News page and the Old Vic Theatre news page. The following pictures were taken in Paris. Thanks to Marie.
May 30, 2006
Tomorrow evening I shall try to post the pictures of the Edison theater ads and Superman Returns posters that have been seen in France recently. Plus, we have more screen captures from SNL coming up too.
May 27, 2006
According to various TV reports in England and in France, Kevin was apparently spotted attending the Grand Prix races in Monaco. Plus, Superman Returns is supposed to be introduced tonight at Cannes.
May 25, 2006
Coming soon.net says that Kevin is interested in a part in the Ed Harris film My Blueberry Nights.
There are a few Spacey autographed Richard II programs that were donated by the Old Vic, being auctioned off on ebay.
The auction benefits the UK children’s charity the NSPCC (National Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children).
May 22, 2006
Kevin has been announced as a presenter at the MTV Movie Awards on June 8. Thanks to Kelly for the info.
And a big thanks to Joanne for the screen capture from SNL that is on the site entrance page. More coming very soon.
May 20, 2006
After their dismal attempt at putting a picture of Kevin in the paper earlier in the week, the Washington Post has managed to redeem themselves this morning with a small (but clear) b/w version of the picture of Kevin taken at the gala on Saturday night (below left) in the TV listings for tonight’s Saturday Night Live show.
11:30pm EST – Host Kevin Spacey, musical guest Nelly Furtado.
There will be a special chat tonight for the viewing of the show after the regular chat. Regular chat starts at 9pm EST (bring your LDJIN DVD so we can listen to Kevin’s audio interview and chat) followed by the SNL chat at 11:30pm EST.

This just in from Variety by way of comingsoon.net –
Kevin Spacey To Play Joe Claus Villain
Kevin Spacey has been set by Warner Bros. Pictures to play the villain in Joe Claus, the David Dobkin-directed comedy starring Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamatti, says Variety. The film was originally set up as “Fred Claus” but the studio encountered title clearance problems.
The role marks back-to-back WB bad guys for Spacey, who plays Lex Luthor in this summer’s Bryan Singer-directed Superman Returns. Joe Claus shoots in the fall in London, which is convenient for Spacey because he can continue his work as artistic director of the Old Vic. Spacey is already set to star in an Old Vic stage revival of Moon for the Misbegotten. Vaughn stars as the loser brother of Santa who joins his sibling at the North Pole. John Michael Higgins, who just worked with Vaughn in The Break-Up, has joined the cast as Santa’s head elf. Judi Dench will also star in the film, which was written by Dan Fogelman.

I’ve added some Lex Luthor trading cards to the Lex Luthor Collectibles page. The pertinent info can be found at the Superman link above.
The Washington Post finally has something about the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s gala the other night. Not quite the coverage I had expected but when Kevin starts removing articles of clothing, it would appear no one cares about anything else. This morning’s issue. Style section. The Reliable Source column, page C3. Small, blurry picture of Kevin.
Kevin Spacey, The $2,600 Man
Whoo-hoo, Kevin Spacey, take if off! Things got a little crazy at the Shakespeare Theatre gala Saturday. It all started when auctioneer Kathleen Matthews held up a cummerbund someone found on the floor and started bidding at $5. It eventually went for $260 to it’s original owner, Mark Walsh, who had no idea he had even lost it. (What kind of gala was this?) Oscar-winner Spacey, on hand to accept the theaters’ Will Award, then stood up, took off his cummerbund and told Matthews to start the bidding at $500. “Pony up, people,” he cajoled. After intense bidding, an anonymous fan claimed it for $2,600. No idea how Spacey made it through the rest of the night; the star himself joked that he never guessed going in that he’d have trouble keeping his pants on.
– The Reliable Source by Amy Argetsinger and Roxanne Roberts
In other auction news, the LAByrinth Theater made over $800 with the 5 Spacey-autographed Old Vic posters last night.
Fans on the west coast got their Lex Luthor standees on Friday but fans on the east coast, such as myself, are still waiting for the truck to arrive.
Spacey fan Jen tells me there’s a new Special Edition Cap’n Crunch cereal that has a game with a picture of Lex on the back but it’s the same picture as we’ve already seen. I’ll see if I can find it somewhere.
May 15, 2006
There doesn’t seem to be anything in the Washington Post this morning about Kevin, the Will Award, or even the fundraiser itself, but I did find this item online from the Washington Times. No picture, I’m afraid.
Cummerbund stars at Will award gala
What is a Giorgio Armani-labeled cummerbund worth? The answer is a solid $2,600 if it belongs to actor Kevin Spacey, who ripped it off his body spontaneously and presented it for auction Saturday at the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s 19th annual fundraising Will award gala. His was a winning gesture in every way. Formally known as the William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre, the statue was handed over later to the wildly talented American-born man who now is artistic director of London’s Old Vic.
Television broadcaster Kathleen Matthews, a member of the company’s National Council, had been needling a willing audience to up the ante following her display of another cummerbund that a patron inadvertently had lost. This one was returned for a “paltry” $200. All sums of the night, which totaled well above $400,000, went to the Shakespeare Company’s Free For All performances at the Carter Barron Amphitheatre, which this season features Aeschylus’ “Pericles.” Supporters and guests were rewarded with a performance by celebrated chanteuse and actress Audra McDonald.
The company is accustomed to thinking big in “willful” terms. Its future home, the Harman Center for the Arts, will be “the most technologically advanced theater in the world,” according to its Toronto-based architect Jack Diamond. Suzanne Farrell, artistic director of her Washington-based dance troupe, teased about the possibility of joining forces there as did Mr. Spacey in his acceptance speech, which amounted to a sermon of sorts on behalf of theatrical expression.
The actor-director, who also is considered a fine singer, quoted “power of positive thinking man” Norman Vincent Peale and praised heavily his mentor Joe Papp, the Will award’s first honoree, in 1988. “I have seen the far-reaching effect that theater can have,” said Mr. Spacey, winner of two Academy awards. “I believe, in truth, movies don’t need my help and that theater does.” — Ann Geracimos

Happy Mother’s Day. The lovely pictures above are from last night’s gala for the Shakespeare Theatre Company. I hope he was planning to take the train to New York City this week. I’m not sure that award would make it through airport security. With any luck, there will be something about last night in the Style section of tomorrow’s Washington Post newspaper.
May 13, 2006
For the third week in a row, The Big Kahuna is the scheduled movie for chat tonight. This time for real.
Kevin is supposed to be in Washington DC this evening accepting an award from the Shakespeare Theatre Company in a glittering fundraising affair at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium. Tickets were quite pricey. Because of this, I was unable to attend, however I was able to make a trip to Target this morning and can report that there are still no Lex Luthor action figures.
The Superman Returns trailer is supposed to be on TV now. I haven’t seen it but I *have* heard Kevin’s Honda commercials and I think I can speak for all of us when I say that I’m going to miss the one that was on so much a few weeks ago, when it stops airing.
Does anyone by chance know the file name I had given the picture that *had* been on the entrance page before I changed it a few weeks ago? I was going to switch back to the other photo this afternoon but couldn’t remember what the picture file was called and I gave up searching for it alphabetically in the site files by the time I worked my way through all the Beyond The Sea files. You can find the old Richard II picture on the entrance page for now.
May 10, 2006
Tickets for The Old Vic Theatre’s A Moon For The Misbegotten have gone on sale for Friends of the Old Vic today and will be available to the general public starting on May 22. Kevin will perform in the play from September through most of December.
Thanks to Kelly for news of the tickets being on sale now.
May 9, 2006
The Old Vic has announced their next three seasons. Thanks to Cathie for the info.
May 8, 2006
I added the picture of the latest Lex Luthor collectible I came across to the LL Collectibles page. It’s 4 of the 8 cards in the new Superman Returns UNO card game. The other 4 cards are identical to the cards on the page. I didn’t see any reason to scan all 8 cards, although, that may be what I do next week if I have nothing new to scan!
I still await the arrival of the Lex Luthor standee.
Spacey fans.. mark this date. May 8, 2006. Remember that date. May 8, 2006.
Why you ask? I’ll tell you all later. I’d tell you now but then I’d start rambling on about the beautiful LAC glossy I sent to Kevin through the WMA seven years ago, in hopes of getting it signed and returned to me in the self-addressed, stamped photo mailer I included but to this day have never received and now find myself facing a glaring bare spot in the LAC pages of my Spacey scrapbook and the sinking feeling that it’s not going to get here. And no one wants to hear about *that* again.
May 5, 2006
SNL line-up change I’ve been told that the musical guest for Kevin’s show on May 20 will now be Nelly Furtado and not Daniel Powter. Thanks to Mark for that info.
After all the jokes.. ok, I admit it.. after all the griping and whining I have done on the SR news page about how all you can find are Superman action figures and no Lex Luthor figures, I have won a Superman Returns Mattel Action Figure on that Quaker Oats site using the access code from the Honey Graham Life cereal box that had Kevin’s picture on the back. The confirmation email doesn’t say which figure it is or when I can expect to get it in the mail, just that it will be sent. Dare I hope to find a little Lex Luthor in the mailbox one day?
May 4, 2006
The LAByrinth Theater Company is allowing us a look at the Spacey signed Old Vic posters they are auctioning off. Thank you to Siobhan for sending the scans. The auction can be accessed here starting tomorrow night. I hope Kevin and his fans bring them luck.
May 2 and 3, 2006
Here’s a quick notice about autographed Old Vic posters that were donated by Kevin for an auction being held for the LAByrinth Theater Company in New York City. The eBay auction takes place from May 5 – May 15 and will support new play development for the theater company. They have great items from people other than Kevin as well. You can take a peek at some of their stuff here. I’ll post more details later.
*The posters are for CLOACA, National Anthems, The Philadelphia Story, Richard II (green) and Richard II (black).
I’ve added some screen captures from the new Superman Returns trailer to the SR Photos page. There is also one on the SR News page. Big thanks go to Joanne.
It seems that Edison has had a name change for it’s US DVD release and will now be known as Edison Force. What’s that old joke about putting lipstick on a pig?
Spacey fan Veronique tells me that Edison is to be released in France on May 10th. She has spotted posters for the film on bus shelters in Paris.
